I've just had my first look at comet Lovejoy from my back garden in Bath. A cold front has just passed through, and the sky is transparent enough to give good transparency even in the city. The comet is at least as bright as expected (Mag 4) - easy to pick up in any binoculars and probably a naked eye object under dark skies. No visual sign of a tail in my usual binoculars, my 25x100s, or the 12" Dob. Visually it's a diffuse blob, and the Dob showed a central bright coma of about 10" diameter.
